I Just Met a Real-Life MacGyver!

My mind was absolutely blown away with Jeff KH6JUZ, and his incredible APRS network project on Oahu. And let me tell you, this guy is a modern-day MacGyver for hams!

I’ve been to countless ham radio conventions, but this conversation was on a whole different level. Jeff’s passion for emergency communication is infectious. He’s taken on the monumental task of building an APRS network on an entire island! I mean, can you imagine the logistics of that? It’s like herding cats, but with Raspberry Pi’s and Direwolf software.

I was particularly impressed by his innovative approach to overcoming the unique challenges of an island environment. I won’t spoil the details, but let’s just say he’s found some seriously clever workarounds.
