Clallam County WA Amateur Radio Club and Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) Enhance Emergency Communications with BridgeCom Systems

[Port Angeles WA]—The Clallam County Amateur Radio Club (CCARC) and Clallam County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (CCARES are excited to announce their purchases of BridgeCom Systems repeaters to upgrade their communications infrastructure in the northwest Olympic Peninsula. The two organizations have partnered to install a new BridgeCom BCR-50V VHF Repeater and Henry Radio Band Amplifiers from BridgeCom. This new equipment has been installed on Ellis Mountain in western Clallam County and significantly extends repeater coverage of the western Olympic Peninsula. During an emergency, the new repeater will allow radio amateurs to help the Sheriff's Office to coordinate emergency response across the county.

Amateur Radio Volunteers Supplement County Emergency Services
CCARES is an organization that is made up of Clallam County Sheriff Volunteers with amateur radio licenses, whose purpose is to provide radio coverage in support of the County during emergencies. CCARES partners with the Clallam County Amateur Radio Club for use of their W7FEL repeaters and serves as a liaison between the County and Club for emergency communications projects such as the new repeater. CCARES and club members volunteer their time to install and maintain this equipment.

The partnership between CCARES and BridgeCom is an important step in ensuring that radio communication during an emergency extends to the western part of the county, previously unreachable from existing repeaters.
