WiConduit Strengthens Emergency Communication with BridgeCom’s Repeater
Forestville, California – March 11, 2025 – BridgeCom Systems is pleased to announce that WiConduit, a non-profit organization dedicated to closing the Digital Divide, has enhanced its communication infrastructure by acquiring a BCR UHF (GMRS) Repeater. This upgrade aims to improve emergency communications and support community training initiatives in underserved areas. WiConduit, in cooperation with the North Bay Communications Cooperative (NBCC), has distributed over 700 free GMRS radios and trained individuals to become effective neighborhood communicators. Lack of neighborhood communications, in the absence of cell service during emergencies, has been identified as a deficit in communications infrastructure, leaving neighborhoods without effective methods for conveying situational awareness up the communications chain. The installation of these repeaters helps to correct this deficit, enabling neighborhoods to communicate their needs, and receive services and supplies in emergency situations.
Leaders Speak on the Partnership
"Our region has faced devastating wildfires, floods, and other natural disasters, often causing critical communication failures when they are needed most," said Calvin Sandeen, Executive Director of WiConduit. "We understand the vital need for reliable communication when traditional networks go down. Companies like BridgeCom Systems empower our community with the technology to stay connected during emergencies."
“Integrating the BCR UHF Repeater into our communication infrastructure is a significant step toward enhancing our community outreach and emergency response capabilities,” said Tony Goodwin., Chief Radio Officer for NBCC. "This upgrade will allow us to coordinate more efficiently, ultimately benefiting the communities we serve."
“We are honored to support WiConduit and NBCC in their mission to bridge the Digital Divide by providing dependable communication solutions,” stated Ron Kochanowicz, CEO of BridgeCom Systems. "Our BCR UHF Repeater is designed to meet the rigorous demands of community-focused operations, and we are confident it will serve as a valuable asset to their team."
