FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

[Bridgetown, Barbados] – The Amateur Radio Society of Barbados (ARSB), a cornerstone of the amateur radio community in Barbados since 1955, is proud to announce the purchase of a new VHF Repeater from BridgeCom Systems. This significant upgrade will enhance the society’s ability to facilitate reliable communication across the island, particularly during emergencies.

"At the Amateur Radio Society of Barbados, our mission is to advance amateur radio in Barbados and ensure we are always ready to support our community in times of need," said Mr. Basil Yearwood, President of ARSB. "The new VHF Repeater from BridgeCom Systems will allow us to maintain clear and reliable communication, ensuring that our members can connect when it matters most."

Mr. Basil Yearwood, with the callsign 8P6GY, has been an Amateur Radio Operator for more than 40 years. His passion for the hobby began during his secondary school days and has grown into a lifelong commitment, particularly in the field of Emergency Communications. Under his leadership, ARSB has continued to thrive, focusing on training, youth engagement, and emergency preparedness.

"We are thrilled to support the Amateur Radio Society of Barbados with our VHF Repeater," said Ron Kochanowicz, CEO of BridgeCom Systems. "This equipment is designed to deliver robust and dependable communication, which is crucial for the ARSB’s ongoing efforts to enhance emergency preparedness and strengthen their community connections."

The Amateur Radio Society of Barbados has been actively promoting and supporting amateur radio activities on the island for nearly seven decades. The society provides a range of services, including training for new operators, emergency communication support, and regular meetings to foster a strong sense of community among radio enthusiasts. ARSB also works closely with local government agencies to ensure that amateur radio remains a vital and legally recognized activity in Barbados.
