Worth every penny!
I am a "tech person" but, it is really nice to literally open up the box of goodies, power everything up and be on the air within minutes. The Training course is designed well with short-ish snippets to get you going and deeper into what your equipment can do.
There are other features that are very much like programming a $7k Motorola commercial radio....
I happened to buy a Yaesu FT3DR around the same time I bought the 878, so I've done a lot of comparisons between them. IMO, the 878 is a much better radio in spite of being less than half the price.....
I'm completely happy with my 878. It feels good in my hand, and the audio quality is excellent....
“Last fall I got diagnosed with bulbar onset ALS. So I am trying to do as much with my kids as I can. The old micor repeater we had was damaged by lightening that came in on the AC mains through the power supply. So that's why we got the BridgeCom repeater."
I purchased this Mic for my Kenwood Tri-Band HT. It works great. The Mic has a good weight to it and the swivel-clip is strong and locks into your desired position. The Mic's coiled cord is a good length where you do not feel restricted. The sound quality is great as opposed to some other mics that I've heard. I am very pleased with this purchase. I have not used it in the rain yet but I'm confident that it will work fine based on the quality of this product. This was my first purchase from BridgeCom and I will not hesitate to purchase other items in the future.
Solidly built single band mobile for 222 MHz bands. Easy to program from the panel and microphone. For the eight channels in use in my region, I did not need the programming cable or software. This unit is used as a base station and replaces a 30 ish year- old Kenwood TM-3530A, which had died again. BCM-220 has great Rx and Tx audio, sensitive receiver, and works well so far. My other option was the TYT TH-9000 single bander. Several of my friends have those and like them, but the very mixed reviews on e-ham and other sites discouraged me from going that route. I have been seeing the Bridgecom ads in QST for quite a while and decided to try this radio out. I think it may be the only one around here, don't know of others yet. I will probably take it to a couple of club meetings to show. Was planning on Elmira Hamfest, as usual, but got sick and stayed home. Heard from friends it was cold, rainy, windy, and under- attended... Too bad... That is the best one around upstate NY these days. 73s
The BCM-220 is well constructed and easy to operate and program. I'm using mine as a remote base radio and it's so easy to interface to a controller using the rear panel DB-9 connector. I'm very pleased with the performance. Additionally, the firmware is easy to upgrade as new features/fixes become available. The best part is the enthusiastic and competent telephone support from BridgeCom. Ron is totally focused on the amateur community and values constructive input. I recommend the BCM-220 without reservation.
Took the repeater out of the box and was surprised at the quality of the construction. Took no time to put it on the air. The reception and transmitter are great. Better than we expected. A great piece of equipment.
