BridgecomSystem BCM/BCR Programing

I have 3 Bridgecom Mobile radios and 5 Bridgecom Repeaters. Using the Programing cable and programs the programing is very simple. I can have a BCR/BCM programed in about 10 minutes or can make a clone of the repeater or mobile radio. It is one of the easiest set of programing SW that I have ever used. Almost all of the programing can be done from the front panel of the radios or repeater, but the SW is so much easier and faster. Great Software...

BCR/BCM programming kit

I purchased the BCR/BCM programming kit to enable a firmware upgrade to our club's BCR-50V repeater. Ordering the kit was straightforward, and in a few days it arrived. After installing the programming software onto my laptop, I plugged in the programming cable and attempted to connect to the repeater. After trying all possible USB ports and getting an error message, I studied the files and folders that had been installed on my computer. I discovered a DRIVER folder, and there was an executable to install the driver for the programming cable. There were no printed instructions with the kit, and I had incorrectly assumed the programming software was plug and play. After I ran the driver install program, I was able to successfully connect to the BCR-50V and retrieve the setup data from the repeater. Using a firmware upgrade program and files previously obtained from BridgeCom, I was able to accomplish the update - from v2.00 to v4.59 without incident. Our repeater menu choices now agree with the most recent version of the manual! I recommend that BridgeCom include a "Getting Started" note with the kit to alert new users to the requirement to install the driver for the USB programming kit.
