        AnyTone AT-D578UVIII PLUS Tri-Band

        I purchased this AnyTone AT-D578UVIII PLUS Tri-Band, to use as a base station. There isn't anything I can say about this radio except, it is GREAT, it does everything I could ask a radio to do. Excellent equipment and top notch customer service. This is what makes Bridgecom stand out above all others!

        Solidly built radio. Hoping for a better interface for sound card modems, I use a Tigertronics signalink. The 878 interfaces easily, but for the mobile I can’t seem to locate a cord to work.

        Cost benefit ratio tilts toward overpriced

        Hoping this would be the ultimate DMR radio, I found that some features didn't work well. The blue tooth mic was hopefully to be useful to enable Winlink Vara FM using a digirig and the Kenwood type dual pin input. Unfortunately after many hours of fruitless efforts, success could not be found. Considering a direct mic input, but don't know if that will work either. As a 40 year member of Office of emergency management, it was important to have this capability. The only benefit found was being able to hold the tiny screen close to my face. The other advertised capabilities will be tested on a multi-state trip to verify roaming and aprs capabilities. I don't understand why a change in the GPS icon within the same model line without notification occured. Leaving me unsure that an accurate GPS location had been obtained, I had to verify with other devices. Not the value of usefulness I had hoped for.
